Dishman Access

Some of the BCC Board and climbing community members joined the Hutchinson Irrigation District at their board meeting on July 13th to discuss access to the main wall of Dishman. There are concerns that climbers and other vehicles (hikers, unhoused individuals) continue to park in the turnout that blocks the yellow gate for Irrigation District employees. We want to stress that this is private land that we are allowed to climb on, and that you should only park at the Camp Caro parking lot. There are also concerns that this is a major drainage for the water tower and if telemetry sensors failed, the main wall would be flooded at 900 gallons per minute.

The BCC Board has been invited back to their meeting on August 10th to continue conversations on a working relationship and hopefully maintain access to this wall. Board members will be sharing examples of climbing management plans with the Irrigation District prior to this meeting, and they will be meeting with their lawyer to discuss liability concerns.
